Portt&Co is an award-winning, UK-based bookkeeping and financial strategy firm. As an official B-Corp, the firm underwent a major strategic evolution: expanding its core financial services to pioneer Carbon Accounting and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint reporting for sustainable SMEs.

As the Senior Brand Designer & Strategist, I was tasked with orchestrating a complete 360-degree rebranding. The scope of work encompassed a full visual identity system, bespoke stationery design, corporate promotional materials, and a completely overhauled, modern website. The project was highly celebrated upon launch, with the firm’s founder publicly sharing his pride in how the new brand perfectly matches their dual mission of balancing economic precision with climate action.​

THE CHALLENGE

The Constraints of Legacy Financial Aesthetics]

Portt & Co’s legacy identity suffered from a severe strategic perception gap. The old logo relied entirely on a traditional, high-serif typographic wordmark paired with an editorial charcoal and orange color palette. While it conveyed basic heritage, it felt distinctly old-fashioned, resembling a conservative law firm rather than a dynamic, data-driven consultancy.

This static approach created a strict credibility ceiling when the firm transitioned into a B-Corp certified pioneer of Carbon Accounting and GHG footprint reporting. The legacy brand architecture offered no visual flexibility to signal sustainability, climate consciousness, or technological innovation.

The Creative & Strategic Objectives

The brand required a complete 360-degree overhaul to address three primary structural flaws:

  • The Dual-Service Narrative: The visual tone needed to communicate world-class financial authority while looking environmentally conscious and human. The rigid serif typography and sharp orange accent could not carry this complex transition.

  • Fragmented Collateral Systems: The legacy layout lacked a component-driven logic. Print stationery and digital assets were designed in isolation, creating a fragmented client experience.

  • Digital Stagnation: The previous website acted as an outdated informational brochure rather than an interactive digital portal. It offered no seamless UX for eco-conscious founders trying to distinguish traditional bookkeeping from the new carbon accounting pipeline.

THE STRATEGY & PROCESS

Instead of using standard "banker blues" or neon "eco-greens," I anchored the strategy around the theme of "Precision for a Brighter Future."

  • Architectural Blueprinting: Leveraging my background in architecture, I approached the identity through a lens of grid structural precision. The brand geometry was engineered to reflect accountability, data balance, and structural harmony.

  • Material Selection & Tactility: For the physical stationery and promotional assets, the strategy focused on eco-conscious minimalism. The visual weight of the assets was designed to communicate premium executive value using sustainability-first principles.

THE 360° SOLUTION & EXECUTION

A. Core Identity & Typography

  • The Geometric System: I engineered a refined, minimalist brandmark based on clean geometric intersections, symbolizing the perfect alignment of books and carbon cycles.

  • Typography Pairing: I curated an editorial, premium typeface for high-level branding messaging, balanced by a sharp, clean sans-serif for numerical data-heavy applications.

B. Stationery & Promotional Materials

  • Corporate Stationery: Designed a clean, authoritative physical suite including premium business cards, official letterheads, and corporate presentation templates that project elite advisory status.

  • Promotional Assets: Created modern, minimalist digital and physical promotional layouts that allow the Portt & Co team to package complex financial and carbon impact reports into beautifully clean, readable corporate documents.

C. Complete Website Redesign

  • UI/UX Architecture: Designed a responsive, custom web interface built on a warm, organic color palette (earthy forest tones, rich charcoal, and premium off-white).

  • Frictionless Navigation: The web layout explicitly separates their dual service funnels while maintaining a unified visual thread, making it incredibly intuitive for eco-conscious founders to explore both bookkeeping and carbon accounting options.

The rebranding successfully redefined Portt & Co’s position in the market, elevating them from a standard regional bookkeeping firm to a highly differentiated, purpose-driven financial consultancy in the UK.
